the challenge
The company’s previous off-site talent acquisition solution led to subpar hiring outcomes and high turnover, hindering its ability to compete for key skills. The organization sought out external market intelligence and guidance to overcome these difficulties and meet its ambitions.

the solution
The global business services firm implemented a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) solution that includes dedicated on-site recruiters to increase flexibility. The solution, supported by Randstad Enterprise’s own global business service centers, also provides advanced talent intelligence, including external market insights, and AI-powered technologies that enhance the hiring process and people experience.

key results

    • Time to hire has met or surpassed expectations for most roles, with candidate slates created within three days in some cases.
    • Satisfaction rates with the RPO program have reached 4.8 out of 5 among hiring managers and 4.5 among applicants, indicating a highly positive experience for all involved.
    • Agency use fell to just 3%, with the RPO delivering the overwhelming majority of hires.

avoiding talent acquisition delays

What does it take to support one of the world’s most ambitious and profitable airline businesses? For one Poland-based business services group, it means delivering customer-centric services across a global footprint. As a result of this disciplined focus, the organization is soaring to new heights in more ways than one.

The global business services group operates a hub-and-spoke model, providing efficient and simplified operations for finance, procurement, technology, airline services and group-wide systems. Established in 2014, it manages a centralized office focused on best practices, processes and technology while meeting on-the-ground needs of its carriers through local facilities in the U.K. and Europe. This model is one reason for global business service provider’s success.

Another has been the organization’s ability to attract and hire skilled talent who keep their airlines operating at maximum efficiency. With a workforce of more than 1,500 people in six locations and four markets, it serves as the backbone supporting the group’s overall headcount around the world. Filling critical finance, IT and procurement roles is a mandate the organization prioritizes.

Recruitment success hasn’t always come easily, however. As recently as two years ago, the company’s previous talent acquisition model relied on external services delivered off site. The absence of talent advisors resulted in subpar outcomes and low-quality hires. Further, the external team suffered from a high turnover rate, resulting in loss of continuity and organizational knowledge. Realizing the positive impact that external market intelligence and guidance could have on its recruitment strategies, the business services organization sought a new partner to help the company better compete for key skills.

a new talent acquisition strategy takes off

To eliminate bottlenecks, the business services organization entered into a partnership with Randstad Sourceright, a part of Randstad Enterprise. Together they implemented a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) solution tailored to the company's unique needs, skills requirements and geographic footprint. In the two years since implementation, the program has met or exceeded all expectations with 100% of KPIs achieved. Furthermore, the ability of the RPO to flex with the company’s changing needs — shaped by ongoing transformation, business trends and efficiency gains — has enabled the organization to remain agile and highly responsive.

The RPO focuses on delivering key services to accelerate talent acquisition success, quality of hire and stakeholder satisfaction. By placing dedicated recruiters on site at its central and satellite facilities, the RPO enhances the interactions between talent advisors and hiring managers, accelerating the hiring process and outcomes. With support from Randstad Enterprise’s global business service centers, the RPO delivers greater centralization, advanced agility, improved efficiency and access to unparalleled talent acquisition expertise. The company’s new talent acquisition model also provides greater flexibility as business demands fluctuate in the airline industry.

Access to both key skills, as well as BAU talent, have improved as a result of applying Randstad Enterprise’s proprietary talent intelligence platform, which allows the organization’s talent leaders to adapt strategies to shifting labor market conditions. The RPO partnership has also advanced other technologies to facilitate the talent acquisition process and enhance the talent experience, including AI for sourcing, candidate CRM and task automation.

equipped to handle blue skies and turbulence alike

Key achievements of the recruitment model over the last year include:

    • Accelerated time to hire: In-depth market intelligence, improves sourcing, and a strong candidate journey helps the organization acquire talent more quickly. For example, hiring for an important project that began last summer averaged just 14 days, requiring just three days to advance qualified candidates from intake to shortlist.
    • Direct sourcing success: Nearly three-quarters of all hires last year were sourced by the RPO team directly; just 3% were through agencies. This rate means greater cost effectiveness and faster fill times, along with a stronger candidate experience.
    • Shorter aged requisitions: In the first quarter of last year, the number of days for aged requisitions was just 73 days, well below the company’s KPI of 80 days. Time to accepted offers also declined significantly, dropping to 21.9 days, just half of the company’s set KPI (45 days).
    • High satisfaction all around: Both talent and hiring managers express a high level of satisfaction with the RPO solution. Job seekers rate their hiring journey a 4.5 out of 5 on average, while hiring managers score it even higher: 4.8 on average. In fact, when asked to assess if the Randstad Enterprise recruiters are knowledgeable about the role and the company, hiring managers rate them a perfect 5.0.

Through RPO,  the organization is able to acquire the right talent it needs to stay ahead of the competition and changes in local labor markets. In an industry closely affected by today’s unpredictable global economy, the ability to adapt and focus on growth is unquestionably a top priority for the company. Supported by on-site recruiters, AI-powered technology and prescriptive market intelligence, the organization is achieving remarkable agility and recruitment success at a time when access to talent has never been more important.
